  • Festival Opera: Rossini’s Il Barbieri di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville)


    Savannah The Charles H. Morris Center

    Sung in Italian with English Translations above the Stage The Famous Barber is scheming and dealing in this operatic masterpiece as Rosina and Almaviva need the Figaro’s expertise to be together, despite Bartolo’s scheme to keep her for himself. SVF reunites some of its favorite cast members of past productions for a delightful journey into Beaumarchais first comedic installation of the Barber Trilogy, sprinkled with a bit of romance. Written 74 years after Mozart’s telling of part two, this “ Prequel” to The Marriage of Figaro goes back in time to where it all began. An intimate production with virtual sets and a chamber ensemble suited to the intimacy of the historic Morris Center.

    Legendary baritone and artistic leader of the VOICE Programs Milnes shares the wisdom and experiences with audiences while working with the 2017 Studio Artists, who perform for the Master for feedback and instruction. A wonderful educational and musically exciting event!
