cultivating art
Deep Center
One of our most fruitful partnerships has been with the Deep Center in Savannah, GA. SVF composers Dave Ragland and Patrick Vu worked with four young writers in 2021 as part of their Block-By-Block program to create song cycles commemorating these historic times. These new works were premiered at the “Song” concert as part of the Live Festival Season 9.
During our 10th Anniversary Season, SVF premiered another song cycle in partnership with Deep Center students and composed by Jodi Goble.
This project is supported in part by Georgia Council for the Arts through the appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly. Georgia Council for the Arts also receives support from its partner agency – the National Endowment for the Arts.
VOICES That Heal
Our listening lab series continues to touch lives through our partnership with Hospice Savannah and their music therapists. Our completed virtual listening labs have totaled over 500 streams.
A Royal Feast
Michael Ching’s opera in partnership with the Garrison School for the Arts had its world premiere workshop last summer as part of the 2021 Live Festival. Over 60 Garrison students were involved in the creation and performance of this charming sequel to Rossini’s La Cenerentola.
